Introducing Maverick — Case Copilot
The first AI agent for dental lab case entry that actually works — and actually fits into your workflow.
The Problem
While your lab is relatively small, it's not a bad idea to enter cases manually – this is an opportunity to learn how it works, how to delegate tasks, and scale. But for labs processing hundreds of cases daily, this creates compounding issues:
Administrative staff typically have higher turnover rates. Each new hire requires recruiting, onboarding, and 1-4 weeks of training. This is a lot of resources.
You can only process as many cases as you have trained staff members working at any given time. During high-volume periods, case entry becomes a production bottleneck.
No matter how well-trained your team is, human transcription and decision-making introduce errors. With enough volume, mistakes are inevitable: wrong products selected, wrong doctors assigned, missing auxiliary items, incorrect due dates. This necessitates downstream quality checks.
Case entry takes 4-5 minutes per case on average. One fully-trained employee can process 96-120 cases per day, or roughly 2,900-3,600 cases per month at maximum capacity. But new hires don’t start at maximum capacity — it takes 3-4 weeks to fully ramp up.
At $18/hour base rate, the total cost including payroll taxes, benefits, and overhead is approximately $45,000-$50,000 per year per employee — and that's in the ideal scenario where they do nothing but case entry all day.
In reality, most labs mix responsibilities — the same person handles case entry, invoicing, and customer support calls. That means you need more than one person covering case entry, which multiplies these costs and introduces additional variables:
Case entry stops or gets backed up. You’re scrambling to cover or cases pile up, which wastes your turnaround times — one of the biggest competitive advantages a lab can have.
Case entry becomes the bottleneck. Your operational team has capacity, but cases sit in the queue waiting to be entered. If you hire, ramp-up takes weeks and they may not be a good fit.
You’re paying full-time wages for someone who’s underutilized, sitting idle between cases.
In the end, your staff spend hours daily on repetitive data entry, and your lab's intake capacity is artificially limited by how many people you can train and retain. We built Maverick to change that.
What is Maverick
Maverick is an AI agent — a Case Copilot — that follows your lab's case entry rules and helps you enter both physical and digital cases. It knows your customers. It knows your products. And you can give it additional guidance: general case entry instructions, how to pick primary products, how to pick secondary products, when to put a case on hold, when to add ad hoc tasks, etc. Think of it as the new team member who somehow already knows everything, never calls in sick, and scales with your volume.
Maverick is aware of your customer base and their preferences.
Your full product catalog is at Maverick's fingertips.
Provide custom instructions for case entry, primary and secondary product selection.
But Maverick doesn't just fill in fields — it thinks about the case. Based on what it sees during entry, it can flag issues and recommend actions:
Identifies cases that look like potential remakes — based on the customer, case history, and the order details — and flags them before you even start.
If something about the case needs attention, Maverick can recommend adding an Exception Task to track the work to be done.
Can recommend putting a case on hold with a specific reason — missing info, unclear instructions, and so on — whatever the situation calls for.
Can recommend adding case notes for context and tagging cases with custom color-coded tags — so your team knows what’s going on at a glance.
Physical Cases
This is a big one. For physical cases, you don't have to manually type the order from the physical Rx. Instead, you can just tell Maverick what the order is.
Talk to Maverick. Literally. Say the important things from the Rx out loud, and Maverick will interpret it and fill in the case. No more manual copy-pasting.
Prefer typing? That works too. Type in the key information from the physical Rx, and Maverick handles the rest.
The idea here isn't to replace your judgment. It's to skip the tedious part – translating a physical Rx into structured data – and let you focus on the decisions that actually require your expertise.
Digital Cases
For cases that come in digitally, you have two options:
Press a button. Maverick analyzes the case. You review the suggestions and proceed as you would in a regular flow.
Enable one setting, and Maverick will analyze cases the moment they're ingested from your integrated IOS scanners. No button, no waiting. Cases come in, Maverick does its thing, and by the time you look at them, the suggestions are already there.
Non-Invasive Suggestions
Whether you're working with a physical or digital case, Maverick reviews your input and gives you non-invasive suggestions. These suggestions are highlighted in a very specific way to represent AI involvement — you always know what came from Maverick and what came from you.
The case entry flow is exactly the same whether you use AI or don't. Maverick doesn't change your workflow – it significantly accelerates it. Using it is definitely faster than not using it.

Guidance & Context
Maverick isn't a black box. You can configure it with guidance so it behaves the way you want it to:
Set lab-wide rules and preferences for how cases should be entered. Maverick follows these every time.
Tell Maverick how to pick the main product for a case — what to prioritize, what to default to, what to avoid.
Guide Maverick on secondary products: add-ons, accessories, complementary items. Your rules, its execution.
Define how Maverick should evaluate and rank cases that look like potential remakes — what signals to weigh, what thresholds to use.
Tell Maverick when to recommend adding non-production, ad hoc tasks — what conditions should trigger them and what details to include.
Define when Maverick should suggest putting a case on hold and which specific hold reasons to apply — missing info, pending approval, unclear instructions, etc.
Tell Maverick when to tag cases with your custom color-coded tags — based on case type, customer, products, or any other criteria you define.
Define when Maverick should recommend adding case notes — what context is worth capturing and when to surface it for your team.
Why This Matters
This is the first Case Entry agent for dental labs that actually works and is seamlessly integrated into the workflow. Maverick lives inside the case entry flow you already use – it just makes it faster and smarter.
Your team still makes all the decisions. Maverick just does the legwork.
