Pilot LMS MCP
Plug your lab into the AI assistant you already use. Ask Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor about your cases, tasks and conversations, build Insights, and make everyday changes, all with your own login and permissions.
Server URL
https://mcp.pilotlms.com/mcpWhat you can do
Ask in plain language. The assistant picks the right tools.
Search cases and read line items, production tasks, notes, files, warnings, conversations and the full event history.
“Which cases due this week are on hold, and why?”
Read the schema, run read-only SQL, and create or edit Insights: trends, funnels, retention and more.
“Build an Insight of revenue by customer for the last 90 days.”
Create, update, close and reopen lab tasks, and add internal notes.
“Create a lab task to re-scan case 10482 and assign it to Maria.”
Start conversations, add internal notes, close or reopen them, and draft replies to customers.
“Summarize the open conversation with Dr. Patel and draft a reply.”
Add case notes, set due dates, add or remove tags, and put cases on or take them off hold.
“Tag every case from Smile Dental waiting on a remake with "remake".”
The assistant reads your file, stages it as a draft, checks every row against your lab settings and imports only after you approve.
“Import customers.csv from my Downloads folder. Show me any problems before importing.”
Create products, pricelists, customers and custom prices, Work Tracking, email templates, inboxes and PDF templates.
“Create these 12 products from my spreadsheet and put them on the Standard pricelist.”
Installation
Pick your client. Setup takes about a minute.
- 1
Open your terminal and add the server:
claude mcp add --transport http --scope user pilotlms https://mcp.pilotlms.com/mcp--scope usermakes it available in every project. Leave it off to add it to the current project only. - 2
Start
claude, run/mcp, pick pilotlms and choose Authenticate. Your browser opens so you can sign in to your lab and approve access. - 3
Try it: “Find the case for patient Smith and show me its notes.”
Any client that supports remote MCP servers over HTTP works. Add a custom connector with the URL above and you'll be taken through the same sign-in.
How connecting works
Your client opens a Pilot LMS page. Enter your lab’s address; we remember it for next time.
You sign in to your own lab with your usual Pilot LMS login. The assistant never sees your password.
Pick which areas the assistant may use, read or write. Only what you tick is allowed.
The MCP server is a thin adapter. It holds no lab data of its own: every tool call goes to the Pilot LMS backend carrying your credential, and the backend decides what's allowed. That means your role, your lab's data isolation and your approved permissions apply to every request.
Permissions you control
On the approval screen you choose, per area, whether the assistant can read, write, or neither. Only the permissions your own role has are offered.
| Area | Read | Write |
|---|---|---|
| Cases & production | View cases, notes, tasks, files, warnings and production tasks. | Add notes and tags, change due dates, hold cases, manage lab tasks. |
| Inbox & customers | View conversations, customers and their prices. | Start conversations, send replies, close and reopen; create and edit customers and custom prices. |
| Financials | Invoices, payments, credits and billing accounts. | Create and change invoices, payments and credits. |
| Settings & data access | Settings, templates, custom fields, reporting and custom queries over all lab data. | Change anything in Settings: products, production setup, email, inboxes and more. |
Settings & data access includes custom queries across all lab data, so it also grants view access to every other area. Grant it only to people and tools you trust with that.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Fix |
|---|---|
| Server shows "needs authentication" | Authenticate it from your client (in Claude Code run /mcp, pick pilotlms, choose Authenticate). |
| Tools are missing after adding | Restart the session. Servers added mid-session aren’t picked up. |
| I can’t find my lab on the connect screen | Enter your lab’s Pilot LMS address, for example yourlab.pilotlms.com. |
| A change is refused | Your Pilot LMS role (or the permissions you approved) doesn’t allow it. Reconnect and approve more access, or ask an administrator. |
| 429 errors | You hit the rate limit. Wait a minute and retry. |
